Turkmenistan is opening the way for its gas. The construction of a section of the TAPI gas pipeline through Afghanistan has begun, which will transport gas from Turkmenistan to this country and further to Pakistan and India.
The TAPI gas pipeline with a length of 1,840 km should be ready in 2019; it is planned to transport 33 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
For Afghanistan, these investments imply not only USD 500 million in transit fees per year, but also up to 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas, - said the representative of the Ministry of Energy in this country.
The section of the gas pipeline passing through Afghanistan will be 816 km; the route passes through five provinces in the west, southwest and south of the country, partly through areas fully controlled by the Taliban.
