Iran's steel production increased significantly in January 2018, according to the latest figures from the World Steel Association.
Iran produced 1.98 million tonnes of crude steel in January 2018, the association said in its latest monthly report.
The figure shows an increase of 25.9 percent over the same month in 2017 (1.573 million tonnes).
However, compared to the previous month, there were no changes in Iranian steel production.
In 2017, the total steel production amounted to 21.726 million tonnes, which is 21.4 percent more than last year.
Steel production in the Islamic Republic during 2016 amounted to 17.895 million tonnes. Steel production in the country in 2015 amounted to 16.11 million tons. Iran produced 16.331 million tons of crude steel in 2014.
The output of crude steel in the country in 2013 amounted to 15.421 million tons, which is 6.6% more than in the previous year.
Iran became the 12th largest steel producer in the world in the first month of 2018. The country also ranked second in the region after Turkey with 3.174 million tons of products (up 7.6% over the same period last year).
