A bill on sanctions against the United States in response to sanctions imposed by Washington was introduced to the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.
The project grants the Russian government the right to take steps towards the United States of a political and economic nature.
The document will be finalized by experts and the government and will be presented to regional legislative assemblies in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The latest US sanctions, announced a week ago, include 24 individuals and 14 companies. The "black list" includes seven representatives of Russian big business and high-ranking managers, including billionaires Oleg Deripaska and Viktor Wokselberg and the companies they control. The list also includes 17 high-ranking Russian officials.
