Eleven people were killed and nine injured in an explosion at an iron mine in northeastern China in Benxi, Liaoning province. 25 people are still trapped underground.
The wounded were taken to the hospital. More detailed information is not provided.
Mine accidents are frequent in China. In May, two miners died in a mine in Hunan province and three went missing. A year earlier, 18 people died as a result of a gas leak at a coal mine in the central part of the country. In turn, in December 2016, at least 59 miners were killed in two explosions in the mines of Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang province in the northeast of the country.
