The Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) announced the application of anti-dumping measures on the import of coated sheet metal from Vietnam and China.
KADI determined that imports of steel sheets from Vietnam dropped into the country at low prices ranged from 12.01% to 28.49% of the Indonesian market and caused significant damage to the domestic metallurgical industry.
Based on this finding, the Indonesian Trade Safety Committee has proposed anti-dumping measures for Vietnamese steel products for a five-year period. Steel imports have the TS codes 7210.70.70.00, 7212.40.10.00 and 7212.40.20.00.
KADI initiated a dumping investigation on December 23, 2016, following complaints from PT NS BlueScope Indonesia, in which repeated illegal trading practices disrupted production and employment, and also damaged the Indonesian steel industry.
KADI reported that from July 2015 to June 2016, Indonesia imported 224,120 tons of non-ferrous steel, of which 196,195 tons came from Vietnam and China, accounting for 87.5 percent of total steel imports.
On January 9, 2018, KADI announced a statement of material facts on the anti-dumping investigation and asked the relevant parties to comment on the statement. Indonesia held a public hearing on anti-dumping investigations on January 26, 2018.
