During the first five months of 2018, the country's metallurgical enterprises produced 7.72 million tons of rolled metal, which is 5% higher compared to the same period last year, of which 6.43 million tons were exported, which is 83.2% of the total. The export level remained the same compared to the same period in 2017.
The component of semi-finished products in export supplies reached 42.2%, flat products - 34.0%, long products - 23.8%, which is comparable to the same period in 2017.
Over the past five months of the year, domestic consumption reached 1,841.8 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which 545.8 thousand tons, or 29.6%, accounted for imports. It is noted that for five months of 2018, with an increase in consumption of rolled metal in the domestic market by 10.9%, the share of imports increased by 20.5%.
The dominance of long products over flat products also persists, in contrast to the same period in 2017.
The main export markets of Ukrainian metal products in January-May 2018 were the countries of the European Union (34.8%), Africa (15.8%), other European countries, including Turkey (13.1%) and the countries of the Middle East (11, four%).
The main metallurgical importing suppliers for five months of 2018 included the CIS (59.6%), Asian countries (19.1%) and the EU-28 (15.9%).
