Metinvest Receives Gold for Innovation at SAP Quality Awards 2018

Metinvest Group became the gold medalist of the SAP Quality Awards 2018 for the best innovative project among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

The SAP Quality Awards is an international competition for the title of the best project of the year, which has been held by SAP, a German software manufacturer, since 2010. More than 200 SAP projects are nominated for the competition annually in three categories: Fast delivery Project, Business Transformation Projects, Innovation Projects.

Each project is assessed for compliance with the 10 SAP Quality Principles, which characterize both project performance and the quality of project management processes.

Metinvest took part in the competition for the first time. The Coal-Coke-Pig Iron project was nominated in the innovation category. The company's specialists have developed and implemented a planning system for an end-to-end technological chain - from coal supplies to coke and pig iron production. The original mathematical model allows calculating the needs of metallurgical enterprises in coal charge and minimizing its cost, planning the quality of coke and regulating the volume of pig iron production. As a result, Metinvest was able to reduce the cost of coal charge, reduce the cost of coke and increase the production of pig iron. The economic effect from the implementation of the project amounted to more than USD 20 million per year.

Winning the regional European competition gives Metinvest the opportunity to take part in the global competition Europe, Middle East, and Africa, which will take place in the first quarter of 2019.
