Last June, crude steel production in China was 80.2 million tonnes, 7.5% more than last year. Also, a new record for daily production was recorded - 2.67 million tons, which exceeds the maximum in May by 2.2% (2.6 million tons). These data are cited in a report released by the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics on Monday, July 16.
At the same time, the volume of annual production (from June 2017 to June 2018) amounted to 976 million tons, and this figure exceeds the result of a year ago by 17% (then only 832 million tons of crude steel were produced). If we take the period from January to June 2018, then 451 million tons of steel was smelted during this time, or 6% more than a year ago.
In addition, the document notes that the production of pig iron in June in China increased by 3.8% on an annualized basis, reaching 65.88 million tons. If we take the entire first half of this year, then the total volume of pig iron production for these six months amounted to 373 million tons, which is 0.5% more than the indicator for the same period last year.
