ArcelorMittal Zenica has completed a € 30 million refurbishment of its blast furnace, preparing the plant for 20 years of competitive steel production. In addition to the rebuilding of the blast furnace, other parts of the plant were also modernized, including power, sintering and steel mills and a rolling mill.
“Recent projects bring a total investment in the Zenica plant of over 200 million euros. The redesign means that integrated steel production can continue in Zenica for up to 20 years in the future, ”said ArcelorMittal.
To mark the completion of the project, a special ceremony was held at the steel plant, which was attended by over 200 distinguished guests, including Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalic and Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Miralm Galijasevich, which is one of the 10 cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Augustine Kochuparampil and Lutz Bandush attended on behalf of ArcelorMittal Europe.
