ArcelorMittal is investing 150 million euros ($ 169.6 million) in its northern Italian facilities in Cornigliano and Novi Ligure.
Last week, CEO Matthieu Jehl said that starting in January, Ylva's North Italian facilities will increase production to 40,000 tonnes per month, or nearly 500,000 tonnes next year. He also added that the new Italian company ArcelorMittal intends to produce and sell steel in Italy and the Italian market.
Meanwhile, the steelmaker is preparing to increase production at his Taranto facility. This strengthens relationships with local suppliers by giving back unpaid amounts owed to them by the previous administration. Jehl confirmed last week that ArcelorMittal is now aiming for Ylva's production to reach 6 million tonnes per year in the first half of 2019.
