Steel production in China rose 8.3 percent year on year to 1.01 billion tons in the first 11 months of the year, according to the country's main economic report.
According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), growth accelerated from 7.8% recorded in January-October this year and 1.1% recorded in the same period in 2017.
The upturn was achieved despite continued weakness in infrastructure investment and real estate development as the main consumers of steel.
Investment in real estate development in the country rose 9.7 percent in the first 11 months, with the growth rate declining for four straight months.
In November alone, the country's steel production rose 11.3 percent from a year earlier, and, according to the NDRC, it fell 2.9 percent recorded in November 2017.
