ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih's investments grew to $ 443 million in a year

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has summed up the results of the implementation of its investment program for 2018. Compared to 2017, capital and operating expenses increased by almost a third - from $ 337 to $ 443.4 million. Of these, $ 348.8 million are capital investments, and $ 94.6 million are operating.

One of the key projects in 2018 is the construction of two new continuous casting machines worth about $ 144 million: in February this year, hot tests of one of the continuous casting machines will begin. They also want to complete the reconstruction of small section mill No. 250-4 this spring - about $ 55 million will be invested in it. Reconstruction of sinter shop No. 2, worth more than $ 150 million, will also continue this year. Two of the six sintering machines have already been modernized: No. 5 and 6. Two more are being reconstructed this year, and in 2020 they plan to complete the renovation of sinter shop No. 2.

Of the facilities completed in 2018, a complex of two new coke oven batteries No. 5, 6 can be distinguished - this was the largest investment project of the enterprise over the past few years. Investments in the entire complex amounted to almost $ 160 million. In addition, a closed-loop system for cooling the spent converter gas was put into operation in the boilers-coolers of three converters (No. 4, 5, 6) - the costs amounted to UAH 192 million. Plus, a new blast-furnace gas pipeline was built with a length of more than one kilometer - from the DP-9 to the gas supply network of the workshops (UAH 140 million). Also, at the oxygen production facility, a modernized compressor No. 13 with a 10 MW engine (UAH 42 million) was commissioned.

As for the mining department, in 2018, the modernization of crushing and ore processing plants, replacement of pumping units, restoration of existing mining transport equipment, the purchase of new heavy-duty dump trucks, etc. were actively underway. The mining department used 54.5 million dollars only within the framework of capital expenditures. Last year, he received four new BelAZ dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 136 tons, two irrigation machines and a bulldozer - UAH 162.5 million was allocated for their purchase. In 2019–2023 the company intends to invest more than $ 270 million in the development of mining production.

Finally, last year ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih received 500 new gondola cars, which allowed the company to increase its own rolling stock by 2.5 times and partially solve the problems that regularly arise due to the insufficient number of cars and locomotives in Ukraine. In particular, with the timely export of finished products and the receipt of critical raw materials for production (although here the enterprise's capabilities are limited due to the situation with rail freight traffic in the country).
