The Canadian Border Agency has made the final decision on taxes on welded carbon steel pipes from Vietnam.
Accordingly, the weighted average dumping margin for Hòa Phát Steel Piple Company Ltd was set at 4.9%, SeAH Steel Vina Corporation - 3% and State Pipe and Supply Inc - 26.1%, while all other exporters from Vietnam will face a tariff of 54.2%.
The three companies had lower average dumping margins than other exporters because they responded promptly to inquiries from the investigation agency, according to the Vietnam Trade Funds Authority.
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal continues to investigate the issue of harm to the domestic industry and will make an order or opinion by February 15.
The investigation was launched on July 20 last year and covered from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. The applicant was Novamerivan Steel Inc, on behalf of its subsidiaries Nova Tube Inc and Nova Steel Inc.
According to his complaint, the dumping of welded carbon steel pipes from Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam has left Nova traumatized in lost sales, lower prices and lower prices.
The volume of imported welded carbon steel pipe increased from 47,657 tonnes in 2015 to 91,739 tonnes during the investigation period. He added that the price of imports had a significant impact on the price of domestic products.
During the investigation period, imports from Vietnam accounted for 12% of total imports of welded carbon steel pipes.
