Year-to-date crude steel production in the country was 5.143 million tonnes for the week ended January 19, 2019.
The average capacity utilization rate for this period was 80.0%. Production during this period increased by 10.5% over the previous year. The capacity utilization rate was also recorded by a noticeable leap. According to AISI, production was only NT $ 4.665 million with a capacity utilization rate of 73.60% during the corresponding year-to-date period in 2017.
The main producer was the Great Lakes region, which accounted for nearly 39% of the country's total weekly steel production. The region produced 739,000 net tonnes of steel. Production in other regions in thousands of net tonnes is as follows: North-East-219, Mid-West-201, South-670 and West-83.
