Azovstal is working on expanding the range of products

To increase the competitiveness of Azovstal Iron and Steel Works of Metinvest Group, it continues to develop new and improve existing types of products. Among the new products are slabs with a thickness of 300 mm, adapted to the needs of customers from Europe and Asia.

One of the continuous casting machines of the converter shop was reequipped to produce a new type of product. Additional equipment was purchased and new cooling modes were developed to exclude the appearance of cracks and other surface defects in the metal. The plant has already shipped 10 thousand tons of such products to Italian customers - Ferriera Valsider and Metinvest Trametal.

Also, other new flat-rolled products were released, which had not been previously produced at the metallurgical plant. For example, ST3sp sheet steel with a thickness of 7 mm is unusual not only for its size (in recent years, the minimum sheet thickness of the 3600 mill was 8 mm), but also improved in terms of the requirements for the ratio of the yield strength to the tensile strength. Updated the chemical composition and sheet metal AH36: toughened requirements for the value of the carbon equivalent.

This trend allows us to increase the workload of the production departments of the enterprise. Accordingly, the sales volumes are growing and the international sales market is expanding.

Note that in 2018 the product line of Azovstal and MMK im. Ilyich was replenished with 39 new positions. Most of the new items are sheet products that have not been produced before. The main differences of the renewed product range are the sustained stricter requirements for mechanical properties and dimensions, as well as an atypical chemical composition.
