Chief Secretary of the Industry Department of Odisha Governments Mr. Hemant Sharma said that ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel will establish a 3 million tonne steel plant in Paradip.
He said: “The original MOU with Essar Steel was for the establishment of the 3MTPA steel plant at Paradip in Odisha. The land for the plant is already owned by the company and negotiations are at a preliminary stage with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel. "
Former promoter Essar Steel signed a memorandum of understanding with the Odisha government in 2005 to build a steel mill in Paradip, the cost of which was not advertised.
