ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih modernizes sinter plants. The company has reconstructed three of six sintering machines in shops 4, 5 and 6. Each unit is equipped with a modern gas purification system and modern automation. Hot testing of the entire complex of the recently renewed sintering machine No. 4 using charge materials continues, and now they are brought to design capacity.
In December last year, the ecological modernization of sinter machine No. 1 began, with half of the total work completed. Sintering machines No. 1, as before, sintering machines No. 4, 5 and 6 will have a new unit for gas purification from the sintering zone. A modern efficient electric filter from Ekoplant from Italy will be installed here. Replaceable bogies with the possibility of increasing the loading layer up to 450 mm, the main units of the linear cooler, a gas manifold with an automatic dust removal unit through new two-valve and a new conveyor filling will be replaced. They will also install a new ignition coil with a state-of-the-art energy-efficient ignition system, which will significantly reduce natural gas consumption.
The modernization of two more out of six sintering machines (No. 2-3) is planned for 2020-2021. As a result of the reconstruction of sinter shop No. 2, dust emissions from each of the six sintering machines will be reduced by 250 tons per year, and the overall reduction will be about 1,500 tons per year.
