Real Steel has contracted Danieli to supply a new high speed rolling mill for the production of wrought bars ranging from 10 to 32 mm in diameter, ranging from square billets with a diameter of 150 mm and weighing up to 2000 kg.
The plant will be installed in Pampanga, San Simon province, Philippines, and with a final speed of up to 48 m /s on a 10 mm bar cooling bed, it will be the fastest bar mill in Asia.
This new rolling mill consists of stands without 14 bodies, followed by 6 passes.
The in-line quenching and self-enrichment process will improve the mechanical properties of the deformed rods, in particular the yield strength, aimed at reducing the cost of microalloyed elements.
One high speed dual channel system will unload the bars onto a 102 meter cooling bed. The finish area is designed to meet the requirements of the Philippine market, which requires different lengths and number of bars per bundle.
The entire process will be fully controlled by the Danieli Automation process control system.
