Tenaris has announced that it will cut its US workforce due to the sharp, sharp drop in oil prices and the subsequent decline in market activity. It reads: “Employees at Tenaris's Coppel and Ambridge, PA, have been informed that work at these two plants will be suspended from March 31, 2020. Work at its threading plant in Brookfield, Ohio will be suspended from April 17, 2020. Tenaris will also be implementing employee layoffs at its South Region facilities, at its Baytown, TX threaded plant and Hickman AR welded pipe plant, starting April 17, 2020. ”
Adjustments at all sites will result in the layoff of more than 900 employees.
Given the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Tenaris will offer COBRA health insurance coverage for employees laid off for three months, with the option of renewing if the outbreak continues.
Tenaris will temporarily suspend production at US facilities
