China's Jingye has sent a private jet filled with medical equipment to Scunthorpe's steel plant to help protect workers and keep blast furnaces running amid the chaos caused by Covid-19. Half of the aid package from China will be donated to the community surrounding the steel plant as nearby local authorities and hospitals in Lincolnshire cope with the epidemic.
A source close to Jingye told The Guardian that the plane has medical and protective equipment from China for workers at the Scunthorpe plant in Lincolnshire.
The plane will deliver equipment, including masks and goggles, weapons to check forehead temperatures, thermometers and medical gloves, the source said.
About half will be used to protect plant workers, while the other half will be transferred to a local hospital in Scunthorpe.
Jingye is located in Xibaipo, Hebei Province, about 500 miles north of Wuhan, Hubei Province, a city believed to be the source of the coronavirus pandemic.
