Brazilian steel companies are asking President Jair Bolsonaro to push for lower US steel and aluminum tariffs. Valor Econômico quoted Marco Polo de Mello López, head of the IABr steel association, as saying: “Export is the main alternative for the sector. We have asked the government to negotiate to make the US market more flexible. ”
On Monday, Bolsonaro met with industry representatives, including Polo de Mello Lopez, and, in response to a demand, spoke to US President Donald Trump on the issue by phone.
