The Management Board of ArcelorMittal Poland has terminated the 10-year collective bargaining agreement of the Company, wishing to negotiate new rules with the unions within the next year. Trade union activists announce the protection of workers' rights and do not rule out the possibility of protests.
ArcelorMittal Poland hopes that the terms of a new collective agreement will be developed during this time. According to the company, this should meet "the current expectations of all employees, both long and short."
According to trade unionists, the agreement, which was concluded at the end of May, contains favorable working conditions for workers in terms of wages and working conditions. Trade union representatives note that the employer has not substantiated the termination of the contract and is considering protest actions.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, AMP continues with a downtime period from May 1 to the end of July, when employees receive 60 to 80 percent. wages depending on the period of residence for the so-called parking lot.
In March this year, the Company announced that it was postponing the re-commissioning of the blast furnace in Krakow, which was due to start in the second half of this month. This decision, as reported at the time, was due to the uncertainty of the spread of Covid-19 in Europe and the unpredictability of the situation. The raw materials part of the Krakow Metallurgical Plant was temporarily stopped at the end of November 2019.
