ArcelorMittal, one of the world's leading steel producers, has attempted to expand its business in Germany by purchasing Dortmunder Blankstahl, one of the local producers of steel bars in Germany, according to a statement from ArcelorMittal.
ArcelorMittal Germany was the second largest steel producer in Germany with an annual production of around 8 million tonnes of crude steel.
In addition, ArcelorMittal's first-quarter financial report says strong demand for domestically produced cars could further push steel demand in Germany with a projected increase of more than 7.5%.
