The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission has exempted precision pipes and pipe steel imported from China and South Korea from anti-dumping measures. The exemption applies retroactively from 29 September 2021, when the final measures were originally introduced.
The goods have Australian TN VED codes 7306.30.00.30, 7306.50.00.45 and 7306.61.00.21.
The Commission initiated an exemption inquiry in response to an application filed by Pillar Products Pty Ltd and Taskmaster Hardware Australia Pty Ltd.
AD duties were levied on all exporters from South Korea and China. All Korean exporters paid 6.2%. Chinese companies Dalian Steelforce Hi Tech Co., Ltd and Yantai Aoxin International Trade Co., Ltd. are subject to a duty of 2.9% and 19.7% respectively. All other Chinese exporters faced a countervailing duty of 42.7% in addition to the 19.7% anti-dumping duty levied on FOB prices.
AD's initial investigation into China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and countervailing duty investigations into China and Vietnam, were initiated in March 2020 based on an application filed by Orrcon Manufacturing Pty Ltd. However, investigations into Taiwan and Vietnam were closed in March 2020. August 2021.
