Primetals Technologies, a UK-based engineering and construction company, plans to deliver the first electric arc furnace (EAF) for a low CO2 steel production project of German manufacturer Salzgitter, SALCOS.
Salzgitter noted that the annual production capacity of the electric arc furnace will be 1.9 million tons. Once the technical infrastructure is in place, plant assembly will begin in 2024 and production will begin at the end of 2025.
Salzgitter aimed to reduce annual carbon emissions by 95%, which is 8 million tons per year.
British Primetals will supply the first EAF to the German company Salzgitter
