According to the report, the European Commission (EC) has increased the sanctions of the European Union (EU) against Russian semi-finished products. However, there is a transitional period for the import of semi-finished steel billets until October 1, 2024 with temporary exemptions, small billets until April 20, 2024, while the export of coal will be prohibited.

The new sanctions stipulate that steel products manufactured in third countries using Russian steel will not be accepted in Europe after September 30, 2023. The latest sanctions also include a complete ban on the supply of Russian coking coal to the EU. Finally, it is said that the restriction will affect materials from the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
