The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) plans to re-introduce galvanized pipes under HS code 7306 30 72 into anti-dumping measures following a review initiated by Tata Steel UK's application.
In August 2021, following the completion of the transition review, the TRA recommended that anti-dumping duties be maintained on imports of galvanized pipes from China and Belarus, but removed from imports from Russia. However, it excluded one of the four types of products subject to the measure as it was found not to be made in the UK.
The authority has since determined that the HS code 7306 30 72 is made in the UK and therefore re-introduced it to the measure. Imports from Russia, however, remain duty-free "because, in terms of probability, dumping by Russian producers is unlikely," TRA said in a note.
Galvanized pipes (threadless WTP, coated or coated with zinc) are used for various purposes, including in construction, for example, as supports for scaffolding.
