The Turkish Steel Exporters Association (CIB) indicated that due to EU sanctions against Russia, steel exports from Turkey to the Baltic countries have increased. In the first nine months of this year, Turkish steel exports to Estonia and Latvia increased 4.9 times and 30% year-on-year to around 70,000 tons and 21,000 tons, respectively.
Turkish steel producers predicted an increase in demand from European consumers in 2023. Turkey ranked seventh in world steel production. In 2021, steel production in Turkey increased by 12.7% year on year to 40 million tons.
