According to statistics from the Spanish Association of Steel Producers (UNESID), Spanish steel production in September was 1.01 million tonnes, up 50.1% from the previous month but down 19% year on year. For the nine months of this year, steel production amounted to 9 million tons.
In September, the Spanish steel industry recycled 778,000 tons of scrap to produce new steel products, up 86.1% on August but down 23% year on year. In the first nine months, the Spanish steel industry recycled 6.76 million scrap metal.
