MMK Metalurji, the Turkish arm of Russia's MMK, has suspended its electric arc furnaces due to low demand and high electricity costs. The resumption of operation of MMK Metalurji furnaces will depend on orders in December.
MMK Metalurji stopped its furnaces in early September and early October due to a lack of orders and high electricity bills. Between September and October, MMK Metalurji's kilns operated for only about ten days.
In addition, Viktor Filippovich Rashnikov, the main shareholder of MMK, faced Western sanctions, and the export of MMK Metalurji was hampered.
