The Chinese company Baoshan Iron & Steel (Baosteel) raised its new prices for January. Prices for key products such as hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel rose by 200 and 150 yuan per ton, respectively.
According to the price adjustment, the base prices of thick plate, hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, pickled steel, hot dip galvanized steel, low aluminum zinc, aluminum, magnesium, galvalume, high aluminum zinc, aluminum, magnesium, medium aluminum, zinc, aluminium, magnesium, color-coated steel, non-oriented silicon steel and oriented silicon steel rose by 50-400 yuan per ton.
Demand is gradually improving in the Asian market. Recently, quotations for local imported hot-rolled steel have also risen steadily, but Vietnam's domestic demand is still weak.
Influenced by new Baosteel prices, Vietnamese company Formosa Ha Tinh Steel may consider raising prices for February.
