Irvandi Arif, senior adviser to the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, said that there are currently no plans for Indonesia to resume exports of nickel ore. The government plans to introduce duties on the export of ferronickel.
The Indonesian government has not made a decision on the introduction of export duties on ferronickel, and two more rounds of negotiations will be required for its adoption. The collection was expected to be delayed by two years.
Indonesia banned the export of nickel ore in early 2020. Last month, the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruled that the Indonesian ban violated international trade rules, and the organization also confirmed that Indonesia filed an appeal on Dec. 12.
