The Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has announced that the Environmental Impact Review and Assessment (EIA) process has begun for a project proposed by Turkish steelmaker Yıldız Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş. build a new smelter and rolling mill in Kartepe, Kocaeli province.
The project will employ 1,000 people during the land preparation and construction phase and 1,000 employees during the operational phase. With an investment cost of 3 billion lira, the planned production capacity is 4 million tons of liquid steel and 3.5 million tons of hot rolling per year.
