Nearly two-thirds of top economists expected a global recession in 2023, according to a report published by the World Economic Forum. in a survey previously conducted in September last year. Only a third of respondents believe that a global recession is unlikely this year.
The latest World Bank report showed that the slowdown in global growth was caused by high inflation, rising interest rates, reduced investment and disruption caused by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The World Economic Forum also listed the cost-of-living crisis, natural disasters and extreme weather events, and geo-economic confrontation among the top three risks in the 2023 Global Risk Report.
