Japan's Nippon Steel has announced an investment of around 213 billion yen in its Setuchi and Kyushu plants to increase production capacity and improve the quality of non-oriented electrical steel sheet products.
With stricter regulations on car carbon emissions and average fuel consumption, the demand for environmentally friendly cars is expected to rise in the future, according to the statement.
In line with this trend, there is also expected to be a significant increase in demand for efficient and high quality materials such as non-oriented electrical steel sheets used for motor cores.
This investment is expected to be fully realized in the first half of fiscal year 2027, with non-oriented electrical steel sheet production capacity for green vehicles projected to be approximately five times the current capacity.
