According to statistics, imports of hot-rolled coil (HRC) to the EU in April amounted to about 837,000 tons, up 47% on the previous month, but down 5.4% on the same period last year. The increase on a monthly basis was mainly due to higher demand for restocking from December last year to February this year.
During the reporting period, imports of hot-rolled coils to the EU from India accounted for the largest share, amounting to about 159,900 tons, up 30.6% year-on-year. Egypt came in second with 99,700 tons, up 158% year on year. Japan followed Egypt with 94,200 tons, up 51.2% from last year.
