Metalworking is a process that represents a whole range of works, the main direction of which is the production and processing of individual spare parts and metal structures of the required dimensions and shape. This result can be achieved with the help of special equipment and the use of various methods of processing the base metal.
Basic metalworking methods
In production and private households, it is customary to process metal by chemical, mechanical and thermal metal working.
In turn, mechanical metalworking is the most common way of working with metal. Let's talk about her. It is classified into two types of processing with and without material removal. The first type of work (and this is forging, pressing, stamping, rolling) is usually carried out using metal-working machines. The main purpose of such works is to prepare the material for further, finer processing. The other type of work is mainly metal cutting. Therefore, it is customary to distinguish:
- Turning - includes work such as cutting internal and external surfaces, threading, etc.
- Milling - means end, end, peripheral, and shaped cutting of parts. The type of processing depends on the type of cutter selected.
- Drilling metalworking. Drills are used as equipment, with the help of which you can make holes of any depth and diameter in the details.
- Planing metalworking. As equipment, a special single-edged chip removal tool is used.
Sometimes, in order to obtain a high-quality metal product, several types of mechanical processing should be applied, and sometimes, in addition, thermal and chemical methods of metal processing should be applied. Be that as it may, the result of production processes is the deformation (bending) of fittings and sheets, the manufacture of adapters, nozzles, axles, shafts, frames and other parts widely used in everyday life and for industrial purposes.
