In construction and everyday life, situations often arise in which additional sealing of power cables is required to protect them from the harmful effects of climatic conditions (changes in humidity, sudden temperature changes) and to reduce the possibility of emergencies during long-term use of the cable.
Before the emergence of special polymer materials cable sealing was carried out by "folk remedies" - various mastics were used, wires were wrapped with foam rubber and even painted. Now, in most cases, it is enough to hide the cable inside a corrugated tube, and put the tube itself in a plastic cable channel. This protection option is suitable for almost all everyday situations (wiring for street lighting, power supply system for a garage or summer cottage). But this option involves regular monitoring of the condition of the cable, because over time, plastic can crack.
If the operating conditions of the cable connections require increased loads, then it is best to purchase a special cable gland module. These modules consist of several parts (base, core and adapter) and generally form a reliable protection for the cable, making it impervious to moisture and high temperatures. Sealing modules increase the vibration resistance of cables, increase the fire resistance time up to 5 hours, and the insulating elements of the modules can be reused. At the same time, the installation of the sealing modules is simple and can be carried out by employees without additional training.
