The reinforcement can have two types of cross-section: constant (smooth rods) and periodic profile. Also, according to the degree of labor intensity of the release, light (up to 12 mm) and heavy (up to 40 mm) types of reinforcement are distinguished. The reinforcement used in reinforced concrete products and structures is conventionally divided into assembly, clamps and working ones.
Working reinforcement absorbs shear and tensile forces of the structure's own weight, as well as forces from external loads. It is known that the distribution armature holds the installed working reinforcement rods in a certain position, and also evenly distributes the load between them. In special cases, when some working rods are installed not only in tensioned, but also in compressed parts of structures (for example, in girders or in beams), such reinforcement is called double.
The clamps bind the reinforcement into one rigid frame, this prevents the appearance of oblique cracks near the supports. Unlike the working one, the mounting reinforcement does not perceive absolutely any efforts, but serves to mount the reinforcement frame and ensure the exact position of the clamps and working reinforcement when concreting the object.
To prevent slipping, the reinforcing bars fixed in the concrete are bent at the ends in the form of hooks. However, rebars with a periodic profile are less susceptible to sliding, so you can save on steel by using such rolling and avoiding hooks.
According to the installation method, all reinforcement can be divided into four separate types: reinforcing mesh, piece reinforcement, reinforcing structures and reinforcing cages.
By the type of profile, one can distinguish smooth reinforcement, round, as well as reinforcement with a periodic profile.
