During the operation of oil and gas wells, which make it possible to transport a variety of liquid and gaseous substances, today the so-called tubing is successfully used. With its help, you can work without problems in aggressive environments.
Among other things, these products reliably protect casing pipes from corrosion, paraffin deposits, erosion and the like. They serve as a kind of insulators for all kinds of transported streams. Sometimes they are even used when carrying out repairs, as well as launching and lifting work.
Key nuances
The aforementioned tubing pipe must necessarily meet the following requirements:
1) strength;
2) absolute tightness;
3) excellent wear resistance;
4) high level of cross-country ability.
Thanks to special fixing elements (packers), these products are installed in any particular well, but only after the installation and cementing of the same casing pipes. By the way, individual tubing sections are up to 11.5 m long. They are connected using some couplings.
There are many different characteristics by which tubing is classified. However, the main one is, perhaps, the type of pumped fluids. Depending on the last factor mentioned, certain products may be intended for such wells:
- oil;
- gas;
- water and gas injection;
- bitumen (used to extract heavy oil).
Production and transportation
For the manufacture of these pipes, exclusively special materials are used, such as steel of certain grades: NKT 20, NKT 30, NKT 30XMA. If in the production process any defects are obtained, the product is sent for remelting. The whole procedure is very carefully controlled, and after its completion, each pipe is tested for suitability.
Loading, transportation and unloading of tubing is carried out using mechanized pipe carriers. These safety measures prevent the products from sagging or bending.
