Hardly any of us have not heard what solar panels are. A lot of people are interested in this topic today. Some make a choice in favor of purchasing finished products, while others prefer to develop their skills as inventors in this direction. The Internet every day is filled with more and more new publications of videos about the achievements of domestic kulibins who make solar panels at home and declare their performance at the level of factory products. What solutions are not used to increase the amount of electricity generated.

As you know, the performance of solar panels directly depends on the intensity of solar radiation, which is correctly called insolation. Throughout the year, the angle of the sun relative to the earth's surface changes all the time, and for effective absorption of sunlight, photovoltaic panels must be immediately installed at the optimal angle. But, in pursuit of kilowatts, some homeowners decide to direct solar panels perpendicular to the sun's rays all the time. The most energetic of them do this several times a day. Those of them who value their time are looking for options to automate this process, I do not find in the numerous articles that are enough on the Internet.

Trackers are such a solution. This is a device for automatically tracking the sun and correcting the position of solar panels accordingly. To implement this function, trackers are equipped with three sensors that are installed at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to the solar panels. When all three sensors are equally illuminated it means that the panel is in the correct position. When the sun shifts on one of the sensors, the voltage changes, the system understands that a deviation has occurred and begins to align the panel perpendicular to the sun's rays, so that the voltage on all sensors is the same. The solar panel is driven by an electric motor. It is in this feature of the operation of the sun tracking system that all the dubiousness of their use lies. The fact is that the increase in the performance of solar cells by adjusting their orientation to the sun is unlikely to be greater than the cost of electricity for the operation of the drive motor. As the tests carried out by Ukrainian specialists show, the increase in the performance of solar batteries in Odessa is only 6%, excluding the cost of electricity for the drive.
