The practice of car sharing is showing the growth of customers in Germany. A total of 1.26 million users were registered last year, which is significantly more than 220 thousand in 2014. However, the number of available cars has remained the same, which increases the utilization and profitability of the provider.
The so-called free floating car, drivers can take anywhere in the central part of the city, this is a new form of car rental. To have access to these cars, it is enough to register in the system and pay the fees that go to the purchase and maintenance of cars, then at any time make a request to reserve a car in any city. This is considered beneficial for people who do not have enough funds to buy their own car.
In Ukraine, if it is not possible to become the owner of a personal car, you can also enjoy driving premium cars and other categories by renting a car in Kiev and Odessa.
In Germany, due to the popularity of this type of rental, the number of available cars based on the provider's station is not enough. On the other hand, the number of users per vehicle is significant. In addition, to date, services are limited to twelve cities. This indicates that companies want to increase usage and thereby increase their profitability. Manufacturers such as Daimler, Volkswagen, BMW have set up their own car sharing companies.
The management of the companies expects that this principle of "use instead of own" will continue to develop and further. The market is not yet saturated, thus it would be possible to reach outlying areas of cities and open up new target groups such as business clients. In addition, municipalities need to book dedicated on-road parking for shared vehicles.
