According to WBMS, the global zinc market experienced a deficit of 52,000 tonnes between January and May 2016. Attention should be paid to the fact that the world zinc market during the whole of 2015 recorded a surplus of 194,000 tons.

Zinc stocks on the London Stock Exchange dropped 21,000 tons during the month of May 2016 and reached 36 percent of the world's zinc stocks. China, the largest consumer of the metal, imported mostly high-grade zinc, increasing imports to 259,000 tons, up from 177,000 tons in the same period in 2015.
