Application
Bearings are the most important component of various mechanisms, machines, technical units and assemblies. The scope of application of these parts is extensive, bearings can be used in various devices - from household appliances to serious industrial units, for example, hydroelectric turbines or drives of bucket wheel excavators.
Purpose and design
The bearing serves in the mechanism as a device for fixing the shaft and its rotation, while ensuring minimal resistance of rubbing surfaces. The general design of the part is a metal cage, into which the shaft or rotor of the mechanism is inserted, and the outer side is pressed into a special seat in the block or the housing of the unit. The cage consists of two steel rings, between which there is a row of metal rollers or balls, which allow the shaft to rotate with minimal friction at high rpm.
Bearing types
The main types of parts include roller and ball designs, which in turn are subdivided into double-row ball bearings and single-row, radial and thrust, with closed and open lubrication system. Roller types of products can be distinguished by the type of construction into spherical, conical, needle-like and others. Each type of bearing is used for mechanisms with specific operating and technical parameters - a certain rotation speed, temperature regime, type of load, and perform a specific purpose: ensuring shaft rotation, carrying out reciprocating movements of units and parts, rolling, movement along guides, and other types tasks.
