Flange connection of valves to main pipelines is the most common method of installation. This is primarily due to the ease of installation and the ability to quickly replace failed equipment.
Connecting welded flange part of the pipeline , the manufacture of which is strictly regulated by state standards, which ensures unified construction dimensions of the fittings.
The most widely used are the following typical flange options:
Flat (GOST 12820-80). Manufactured by turning. The weld side is flat, the opposite side has a small protrusion for installing the cushioning material.
Collar , for butt weld (GOST 12821-80). The side of the connection with the pipeline has a special protrusion for welding to the pipeline. This design eliminates the need for gaskets.
Free , on a welded ring (GOST 12822-80). Consists of two separate rings made by turning and is characterized by rather complex assembly operations during installation.
Threaded flanges made in accordance with GOST 9399-81 can be considered a separate type; installation of such products occurs without the use of welding.
Depending on the steel used and the conditions of subsequent operation, the flanges are divided into:
- steel;
- stainless;
- corrosion resistant.
The use of the flange connection method ensures quick installation, reliable operation and high speed of liquidation of emergencies on main or supply pipelines in all areas of industry.
