The most diverse areas of mechanical engineering and assembly construction are inextricably linked with the use of metal products (parts, elements) made using special machines or equipment. High-precision metal bending, in most cases, is the best option to give the workpiece the required shape without exposure to high temperatures that destroy the structure, which significantly reduces the service life. In this case, the degree of deformation depends on the thickness of the sheet, as well as the specified bending angle, but in any case does not exceed the indicators established by GOST standards.
Equipment types
The procedure for bending metal is a process of influencing it with pressure, as a result of which there is a change in the longitudinal axis in the workpiece being processed. Currently, there are several main types used in the production:
- Manual using special tools and devices.
- Mechanical, the process is carried out on special bending machines, machine tools and using rollers.
- Automated, operations are carried out on a special high-tech machine (equipment) in which all processes are automated.
And if the first 2 options resemble rather a handicraft method of bending, then the latter is distinguished by high productivity, accuracy of maintaining the specified parameters and dimensions, as well as the ability to carry out operations with metal up to 5 mm thick.
The main advantage of a modern machine is the capabilities of a powerful press built into it by the manufacturer (the force can reach 110 tons) and a fairly wide working base (the permissible bending length is 3.1m). The presence of 4 controlled axes and an automatic bombing system allows for the so-called "complex bending" when it is necessary to maintain a certain angle, configuration and, most importantly, a given high accuracy.
