When building a house, it is impossible to forget about insulation. High-quality protection of a building from the effects of severe weather conditions can be provided by such material as SIP panels .
SIP-panels structure
The structural insulating panel consists of two sheets of OSB, between which there is a layer of expanded polystyrene. They are fastened with special glue. Manufacturing is carried out on special industrial equipment.
OSP
Oriented strand board - OSB - compares favorably with similar DPS and MDF. The fact is that the fragments of the split wood are not simply compressed. Before that, they are oriented in different directions, dividing into 3 layers. Thus, the chips are arranged perpendicular to each other in different layers. This technology relieves the wood of its disadvantages, such as heterogeneity and possible cracking. In addition, the three-layer structure makes the material stronger, so that the SIP panels are able to play the role of a supporting structure.
The layers of split wood are connected together on a high-temperature press using resins and synthetic wax. For humans, these substances are completely harmless, but fungus and even insects cannot pass through the OSB.
Expanded polystyrene
Its main role is insulation. It is worth considering that this indicator for a SIP panel, 17 centimeters thick, is the same as for a two-meter layer of brick or four and a half meters of concrete.
Advantages of SIP panels
- Optimization of energy costs through a high level of thermal insulation.
- It is possible to build without additional frame or reinforce walls with timber.
- Easy and fast construction.
- Low flammability, and in the event of a fire, the smoke will not contain toxic substances other than natural soot.
SIP panels are a modern, profitable material for construction, which will allow you to quickly and inexpensively solve the issue of building a house.
