Steel grade 09G2S is intended for the installation of welded structures operating under load at temperatures from -70 ° C to + 425 ° C. Structural steel is used to produce shaped, section, plate and pipe rolling, special-purpose profiles. The most common types of rolled metal are pipes 09G2S, channels, I-beams, rods, corners, sheets and strips.
Properties of 09G2S steel
Mechanical characteristics of structural steel rolled products depend on its chemical composition and type of processing. The alloy is based on iron, its share is 96.2%. Alloying components and impurities less than 4%. The introduction of even a small amount of metals and non-metals into the alloy composition makes it possible to obtain rolled products with the desired properties:
- silicon and vanadium increase strength and elasticity, increase acid resistance and scale resistance;
- chromium increases resistance to shock loads, high and low temperatures, corrosive environments;
- nickel and copper make the steel resistant to corrosion, more ductile and stronger;
- manganese increases hardness, improves cutting properties.
According to GOST 19281-2014, rolled metal made of silicon-manganese steel is subjected to annealing, high tempering, normalization, thermal hardening, normalizing or controlled rolling. Heat treatment allows you to change the quality characteristics of metal products - to increase strength and hardness, to increase ductility or machinability.
Structural Steel Applications
Rolled steel is used in construction, mechanical engineering, instrument making, oil and chemical industries in all climatic zones, including the regions of the Far North. The wide scope of application of products made of structural steel is due to its high performance characteristics - strength, wear resistance, resistance to high and low temperatures.
The increased strength of structural steel makes it possible to reduce the metal consumption and design weight of structures without loss of stability and spatial rigidity. Low alloy steel lends itself well to machining and welding. Channel, I-beam, angle, sheet or circle 09G2S are welded without preliminary heating of the edges and subsequent annealing of the weld.
Pipes with square and rectangular sections, angular and shaped rolled products from structural steel are used in the construction of fences and barriers, bridges, flyovers, advertising structures, MAF, pile-grillage foundations, frame and large-span truss structures. Circles, squares and hexagons made of 09G2S alloy are used as independent elements for assembling metal frames, and are also used as blanks for manufacturing
