The armored cable consists of conductive conductors insulated with a PVC hose. It is surrounded by a multi-layer winding: its main material is zinc-coated steel wire. The cable is highly durable and conducts well.
Types /types of armored cables
There are 2 main types of equipment based on the material of the conductors:
1. With aluminum conductors: marked with the letter A.
2. Unmarked copper conductors.
Galvanized steel wires or strips are used as armor.
By brand of cable there are:
- ABVbShv;
- ВБбШв.
Both types have the same protective layer, but different conductor materials. ABVbShv has an aluminum core, VBbShv has a copper one. The first type is lighter in comparison with the second, but the cores of the copper cable have high conductivity. The cross-section of both cables is the same.
Armored shielded cable
This is equipment with sector, segment or round conductors that carry current. The rated voltage and intended purpose determine the shape of the cores. They are of two types:
- monolithic - consist of one wire;
- twisted from several wires.
The core insulation layer is made of the following materials:
1. Cable paper.
2. PVC compound.
3. Polymer composition.
4. Polyethylene.
If the cable is laid in places with a high fire hazard, the conductors are additionally equipped with a special thermal protective layer. The materials for its execution are mica and fiberglass.
Where armored cable is used
The scope of use of aluminum equipment is as follows:
1. Residential buildings.
2. Private construction.
Copper cables are used for high power industrial applications.
Armored shielded cable is used for:
- connection of switchgears of open or closed type with operating voltage of 110 kV;
- laying power networks with one or three phases;
- branches to the transformer substation;
- connections of sensors and control, accounting or control devices;
- switching or wiring connection between units of the same system;
- trunk and branch connections.
Armored shielded cable powers electrical installations, devices and connects equipment power networks.
Where to lay armored cable
Equipment installation depends on location and conditions. The cable can be laid in an earthen trench without restrictions, and in a tunnel - with
