Rolled metal is widely used in construction. It is used as fittings, embedded parts. Metal building structures are erected from a profile pipe , which are then sheathed with a profile sheet. The wide range of use of profile pipes testifies to their versatility.
What are the features of the products
A rectangular shaped pipe used in construction is produced in two ways:
- made of steel sheets;
- from round blanks.
In the first case, the sheets are deformed on special machines and welded. In the second case, the heated round billets to the temperature at which the steel becomes ductile are given a square shape. A rectangular pipe made from blanks is characterized by increased strength, since it does not have a weld.
Seamless metal-roll is used in construction for the construction of supports, frames, foundations. A metal profile pipe is used when laying engineering communications. Products with increased wall thickness can withstand significant mechanical, vibration and temperature loads.
Advantageous characteristics
The square pipe used in construction can be made of stainless steel. This material is characterized by increased resistance to corrosion. Such rectangular pipes can be used to reinforce monolithic structures and used as embedded parts. Being in hardened concrete, they do not rust for many years. Usually, an oval stainless steel pipe is used in the construction of structures, which are subject to increased reliability requirements.
A round pipe is often used for laying pipelines through which a liquid or gaseous working medium is pumped. Smooth inner surface ensures minimal build-up of mineral or sludge deposits. Thanks to this, the pipes retain their maximum throughput for a long time. Elongated seamless metal-roll can withstand increased loads created by the pressure of the working environment.
Before choosing a suitable rolled metal product, it is recommended to study the assortment of shaped pipes. Selection is influenced by the following characteristics:
- length, diameter, section type;
- thickness, strength class;
- grade of steel or cast iron;
- limit deviations of the shape;
- tensile and tear resistance.
The service life of profile pipes is calculated in decades. To protect them from corrosion, powder paint is used to cover the supports.
